GOPers Tell Schumer They’ll Buck The Tea Party If Obama Wins | TPMDC.

Mainstream Republicans have confided in Sen. Chuck Schumer that they intend to regain control of the GOP from the tea party wing if Mitt Romney loses the election, the New York Democrat told reporters Thursday.
There are various types of fantasies and dreams.  Some are pleasant day dreams that let you imagine what could be.  The most dangerous are the kind that allow you to put off doing what you need to because you believe it isn’t necessary.  Kind of like thinking that you don’t need to work because you just know you’re going to win the lottery.  The problem is that Democrats tend to indulge themselves in this kind of fantasizing more often than not.
Fact is that the Republicans are not any more likely now to cooperate than they’ve been in the past, Tea Party or no Tea Party.  Cooperation is not a word in the GOP vocabulary and isn’t likely to be after the election.  In fact, having lost twice to President Obama they are just as likely to double down on the exact same disfunctional behaviors they’ve exhibited for the last four years.
Frankly the GOP needs to be beaten black and blue at the ballot box, and left bruised and aching to reconsider its life choices.

Without a reasonable, solutions oriented GOP in place, we will continue the current path toward gridlock and dysfunction.

This by itself, should disqualify Romney from the Presidency

September 19, 2012

On Friday, Romney campaigned with (and endorsed) Rep. Steve King (R-IA) “because this man needs to be your congressman again. I want him as my partner in Washington, D.C.”

This is the same Steve King who said he’d never heard of anyone getting pregnant by statutory rape, compared immigrants to dogs and proposed keeping them out with electrified fence (like livestock) and sympathized with birther conspiracy theories.

I live in Steve King’s new district.  (His old district got eliminated).  I’m ashamed to have him represent my state, much less my district).
As far as I’m concerned, he’s in the same batch of idiots as Michelle Bachmann, Louis Gohmert, Michelle Bachmann, Alan West and Joe Walsh.  Racist, bigoted, delusional.

It’s September and Romney is still shoring up the base

Money Boo Boo (I love this!) has rolled out a 14 year old video of President Obama suggesting that redistribution of wealth to help everyone isn’t a horrible horrible thing.
Instead of being able to tack to the middle, Mitt is having to double down on outrage that will appeal to his rabid base, who is still suspicious that he isn’t a True Conservative.

Should I feel guilty for gloating that he’s reaping the results of his own fecklessness and his party’s lunacy?

The sweet sweet taste of Mitt Romney’s flopsweat

September 18, 2012

Okay, that’s kind of gross, but watch the presser of Mitt Romney trying to somehow recover from the devastating video released by Mother Jones today.  I really expected him to paddle off the stage when he was done.

Look at this close up (courtesy of Charles Johnson at LGF):

Mitt has managed to muss his hair, resulting in two rudders of despair sticking out from the sides of his head, steering his way into obscurity.

My hope is that it results in him taking the rest of the downticket races down with him so we can get something done January 20,2013!

SECRET VIDEO: Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters | Mother Jones

SECRET VIDEO: Romney Tells Millionaire Donors What He REALLY Thinks of Obama Voters | Mother Jones.
Mother Jones has video of Mitt Romney telling the 1% that 47% of the 99% are a bunch of moochers.

There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what…These are people who pay no income tax.

Never mind that these people don’t pay income tax because they don’t make enough money to do so, but they still pay more taxes than Romney in some years as they still pay federal payroll taxes.

Why is this not considered class warfare?  Anytime anyone points out that the 1% is screwing the rest of us, the GOP shouts “That’s class warfare?”

Class warfare should involve casualties on both sides, otherwise it’s just a massacre. The 1% has had nearly no casualties from class warfare, while the 99% have lost jobs, homes and dignity.

Hope springs eternal

September 14, 2012

I should have known.  Life has a way of making you a fool when you least expect it.  After my angst ridden post about being unemployed I got a call on a potential contracting gig.  Not getting my hopes up, but it’s a possibility at least.

Hope has a way of resurrecting itself no matter how hard you try to crush it.

Looks like another brown trouser job

September 14, 2012

Being unemployed in this economy is something I haven’t dealt with much. Unfortunately, I found myself in a position where I got hired for a job I wasn’t ready to do. It’s something I seem to have a talent for. I interview well, but I’m beginning to think I need to figure out how to not to sell myself quite so well.
